Sunday Riley Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm
Sunday Riley enters the world of cleansing balms.
I've recently gotten into cleansing balms, because quite frankly I think they're amazing. A good one removes makeup gently, cleanses, and leaves the skin baby soft. When Sunday Riley launched Blue Moon Tranquility Balm, featuring the blue tansy oil popularly in their night oil Luna, I figured it was a good time to test!
This cleansing balm is a soft, icy blue with an almost orange blossom-vanilla scent that isn't too overpowering. It's a harder consistency and will warm up into a more oiler product with the heat of the hand. One thing I noticed was that the texture was slightly gritty at first. Since it's a sugar-based cleanser, it goes without saying it's going to have a fine bit of grit. I haven't noticed this being too rough, but it can feel mildly exfoliating if the product isn't warmed up all the way.
You're supposed to massage it on or 1-2 minutes, so this is a good time to work in a facial massage to help with circulation. After, you rinse with a washcloth and warm water. You can also leave it on for 20 minutes as a mask and then rinse off if you so choose. One thing I also noticed with this is that unlike the Boots No 7 Melting Gel Cleanser and Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, this product can take a little more effort to wipe off. It does go somewhat milky mixed with water, but not as easily as the other balms I've used.
I also think this requires a bit more rubbing effort than the Emma Hardie balm and I'm not quite sure I love the texture of this one. It's not a bad cleansing balm by all means; it does what it says it will and will remove makeup and is absolutely functional as one. It's just that I love the Emma Hardie one more and would probably not repurchase this as such, but I do think a lot of Sunday Riley fans will like this, and it's worth trying it out if you can swing the $50 price. You can find it online or at Sephora and Nordstrom's.
